Who we are

Nuance Design Build Inc. is a design-build renovation company with an office at 370D Red Maple Rd, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 5T4. We design and build kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions and full home renovations across the GTA.

We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Kevin Li, our founder, is responsible for how we handle personal information. You can reach him through the contact details at the end of this page.

What we collect

When you send our consultation form, we receive:

  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • Your project address, if you give it
  • The type of project, your timing and anything you write about it
  • How you found us

When you fill in one of our lead forms on Facebook or Instagram, Meta passes us the answers you give there, such as your name, email address and phone number.

When you call or email us, we keep what you tell us so we can follow up.

When you hire us, we collect what the project needs: your home address, measurements and photos of the space, your design choices, the contract, invoices and payment records.

When you browse the site, our hosting provider records technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you open. The OpenAI advertising pixel collects the details described under Advertising cookies below.

The bathroom budget planner runs inside your browser. What you enter there is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Why we collect it

  • To answer your inquiry and book a consultation at your home
  • To prepare estimates, quotes and designs
  • To plan and carry out your renovation, including permit applications
  • To keep the business, tax and legal records we are required to keep
  • To learn whether our ads lead to inquiries

We use your information for these purposes only, unless you agree to a new one or the law requires or allows it. We do not sell personal information.

Who we share it with

We share personal information with the companies that run parts of our website and business, and with the people who work on your project:

  • Web3Forms delivers the consultation form to our inbox. It keeps a copy for a limited time under its own policy and may check messages for spam.
  • Google Workspace runs our email, where inquiries arrive and where we write to clients.
  • Cloudflare hosts this website and protects it from attacks, so it handles the technical details of every visit.
  • OpenAI receives the advertising details described under Advertising cookies below.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) runs the lead forms in our ads there and passes your answers to us.
  • Google serves the fonts on this website, and YouTube (owned by Google) plays the short film on some pages. Both receive your IP address and basic browser details when those load.

For your project, we share what is needed with your city or town for permits, and with the trades, suppliers, designers and engineers working on your job. We may also share information with our accountant, lawyer or insurer, or when the law requires it.

Some of these companies store information outside Canada, mostly in the United States. While it is there, the laws of that country apply to it.

We do not use Google Analytics or a Meta (Facebook) pixel on this website.

How long we keep it

  • Inquiries that do not become a project: up to 2 years, then deleted
  • Client project records: 7 years after the project ends, for tax and legal reasons
  • Advertising cookies: up to 1 year, as described below

When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.

How we protect it

This website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, so what you type into the form is protected on its way to us. Inquiries arrive in a business email account that only our team can open, and we share project files only with the people working on your job.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and report it to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as the law requires.

Advertising cookies and your choices

We advertise on ChatGPT through OpenAI. To learn whether those ads lead to inquiries, this website loads OpenAI's measurement pixel.

  • It sets a cookie named __obref, a random ID for your browser that lasts up to 1 year.
  • If you arrive from one of our ChatGPT ads, it sets a cookie named __oppref that remembers the ad for 30 days.
  • It sends OpenAI the page address and the time of each event it reports.
  • When you send our consultation form, it reports that an inquiry was made. It may also take the email address or phone number from the form, turn it into a scrambled code (a hash) in your browser and send that code with the report, so OpenAI can match the inquiry to an ad. Your actual email address and phone number are not sent to OpenAI.

You can turn the pixel off at any time:

  • Choose Decline in the notice on your first visit, or use Ad cookie settings at the bottom of any page.
  • Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We treat it as a decline unless you choose otherwise.
  • Block or clear cookies in your browser settings.

Declining deletes the OpenAI cookies and stops the pixel. Your choice is saved in your browser, so clearing your browser data resets it. The website works the same either way. We do not use any other advertising or analytics cookies.

Lead forms inside Facebook and Instagram are also covered by Meta's own privacy policy. These companies explain their own practices here:

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to how we use it. Withdrawing consent may limit what we can do for you, and we may need to keep some records for legal or contract reasons.

Send your request by email or mail to the contact details below. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and we will reply within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

This website is meant for adults planning a renovation. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
